“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.”

Wardrobe Homework III:
Here are some guidelines to determine if a trouser or jean that doesn’t fit properly should be tailored – and a little insight into repairing items that are in need.
TROUSERS
• The waist can usually be reduced or expanded up to two inches either way.
• The seat can typically be reduced or expanded one inch either way.
• If the thighs are too tight or the rise too long or too short, there are some adjustments that make sense. We will advise.
• Tapering the legs and removing the pleats will give a nice, modern look and usually makes sense.
• Often, just shortening the length of the legs on pants with a lot of “break” will turn old into new and is a good return on investment.
DENIM
• Legs of jeans may be tapered.
• Waist may be let out or taken in up to an inch.
• Holes may be repaired by darning or sewn-in patches.
REPAIRS
• Relining jackets is a specialty of ours.
• Zipper replacement or repair is a straightforward fix.
• Other repairs are too many to list – but bring the item(s) by for evaluation, and Carol (our in-house tailor/wizard) will give you her recommendations.
