When mixing different patterns, e.g. stripe tie with a check shirt, be mindful of the scale of the two patterns. As a rule of thumb, keep them about 50% different in size. For example a shirt with a ½” check needs a stripe tie with ¾” spacing (or more). And always remember our first rule…. [...]
